This project featured a series of complex crane operations, involving three significant lifts to facilitate both the removal of outdated equipment and the installation of new infrastructure. The first two lifts utilized 120-tonne cranes, while the final lift, which was documented extensively with photos and drone footage, required a larger 450-tonne crane to handle the heaviest components.

The scope of work began with the careful removal of key mechanical systems, including multiple boilers, pumps, and four large chillers, which had reached the end of their operational life. The removal phase required precise crane maneuvering due to the size and weight of the equipment, as well as the tight working conditions in the area.

Following the removal, the installation phase commenced, involving the placement of new, high-efficiency switchboards, a buffer tank, a modern boiler, and an upgraded pumping system. In addition to these essential components, the project also included the installation of a new steel platform to support the equipment, as well as four state-of-the-art chillers designed to improve energy efficiency and cooling capacity. Air handling units (AHUs) were also installed to ensure optimal ventilation and climate control throughout the building.

The successful coordination of the crane lifts and the careful installation of this equipment significantly enhanced the building’s mechanical systems, contributing to improved operational efficiency, reliability, and long-term sustainability.
