101 Collins Street Electrification Project
Service provided: Rigging, Demolition, Engineering & Fabrication of steel
Client: AG Coombs
The electrification project at 101 Collins Street involved a staged demolition and removal of outdated plant equipment, followed by the installation of new systems. A notable aspect of the project was the careful transportation of five-meter-long vessels through a three-meter-wide Gatic opening.
A structural assessment of the existing building conditions revealed the need to remove old roof tiles and replace them with new steel beams to support the additional load. The narrow streets of Melbourne’s CBD required precise planning to accommodate a 450-tonne slew crane. A dedicated 24-person team of riggers, operators, and traffic controllers was essential in ensuring minimal disruption to surrounding businesses and traffic flow. This project highlights our commitment to effective and efficient management in challenging urban environments.
